Design: The incredible vitality of Austrian wines



A Prowein, I took the time to visit in detail Flag of Austrian wines. My first ambition was to get an overview of these excellent wines, which are unfortunately too few opportunities to cross into France.

Beyond the beautiful Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Blauburger or other Grauer Burgunder, I was surprised by the variety of skins bottles: a neat design, creative talent and the will of differentiation in respect of its identity: it's all there!

And this is not an "epiphenomenon" is a generality: The photos below show more of a stand on both! "There'sa lot going on right now is the young generation," confides a fifties modern and stylish labels.
We love so see the same dynamic here ... But we can still hear too often arguments repeated in chorus: "Yes ... but it is not possible here, we have a tradition," "Yes ... but the Spaniards can afford because they have no established codes", "Yes but ... Australia can afford because they are the New World ... .

In the case of Austrian vineyards, these arguments are not admissible: the wines are very traditional, often expensive (more than 30 €), from vineyards that are centuries old, operated by the same families for many générations.On can therefore difficult to speak of "New World" when we speak of Austria.
We want creative people who work on these Austrian project. The areas they want "a label that looks like me, that expresses my personality and telling my story." This must be changed to: "it has to resume the code-of-land-but-with-more-modern-but-not-too ...".

Here is a book that I found "remarkable" in the sense that it combines a strong intention, and a nice execution.
